Palma de Mallorca

This is a long way off, but back in October Jeff and I traveled to Palma de Mallorca, which is an island off of Spain.  It was a last minute trip that Jeff found three days before.  We awoke at 4:00am, so that we could travel the hour or so to the airport and catch our flight at 6:30am.

After a quick flight, we arrived to a sunny palm-tree filled island that was coincidentally similar to San Diego.  Our first stop was the huge cathedral on the edge of the water.  It was beautiful inside and out, with a fantastic location.

After visiting the cathedral, we searched out the bus to take us to our hotel.  We had a nice room with a great view.

Since it was such a sunny day, we headed across the street to the beach.  After a day of relaxation and leisurely reading, we found an Italian cafe for some dinner.  After a generous portion of gelato, we decided to rent a scooter to travel around the island the next day.

On Sunday, we headed out on our scooter to tour the island.  Although Jeff is a good driver, it wasn't completely stress-free as we were driving down the freeway with cars wanting to go twice as fast as our scooter would go.

We drove up to Valldemossa, which was a quaint town that seemed to be quite a happening place!

We made our way up to Port de Soller.  On our trip we experienced the extremely windy roads with hairpin turns.  Jeff was a pro at managing the turns.  I, on the other hand, didn't end up being the best driver.  I kind of freaked out and stopped in the middle of the road.  It is not a natural feeling to have a 6 ft tall man holding on to you from the back of a two-wheeled vehicle.  Also, since my feet barely touched the ground, it made stopping and starting quite difficult.  Anyways, I left the driving to Jeff!

We stopped at a few lookout points and wandered around the waterfront.  It was such a beautiful day for a drive!

After a fun-filled day of driving around the island, we returned the scooter and made our way to the airport for our flight back to London.  It was a short two day trip, but well worth the early morning and late night....
