I have THE CUTEST neices!

While in Michigan, I got to spend a lot of time with my family, especially Melissa and her adorable little girls. 

Lyla is 2 1/2 years old and is a ball of energy and sass.  She got her daddy's looks and her mommy's personality, with my sass thrown in.  Yes, I influenced her personality! ;)  She is adorable and so much fun to be around.  I love her to death and enjoy spending time reading books, giggling and spoiling her rotten when Melissa isn't looking!


Amelia (Jeff and I's goddaughter) is 7 1/2 months old.  I can see both of her parents in her looks, but her personality (I know, she is only 7 months) is pretty relaxed like her dad.  She is a drooling baby, so you should make sure to have an extra shirt around before holding her.  Honestly, I don't really mind though. ;) She is getting so big already, and I can't wait until I can see her again.  She will probably be walking by then!

Cape Town & Cable Cars

Saturday, September 3rd:  We got to sleep in until 8am!!! After getting up most days around sunrise, I was so thankful to have a day to sleep in.  In a bed! We ate breakfast at our hotel and headed to Table Mountain.  It was a clear day, so we were able to see the top of the mountain on our drive over.  You can hike up and down or take the cable car.  Since I am not too keen on 3 hour strenuous hikes, we took the cable car both ways.  The cable car is pretty cool, because the floor spins as you go up and down.  That way everyone gets a good view.  Also, they don't waste any time getting you up there.  There is a certain point when it goes straight up, and that is pretty freaky. Once at the top, we explored the mountain and battled the wind and cold.  It was so beautiful to see different views of Cape Town.  We were up there for a few hours walking around, taking pictures and enjoying the different views of Cape Town. Etosha National Park

Wednesday, August 24th:   After making it safely out of Ngepi Camp, we had about 6 1/2 hours of driving ahead of us.  All of which were on the same straight road.  We arrived at Etosha National Park at about 2pm at Namatoni Camp.  This is where a German camp used to be and they have a big white fort.  We walked the camp and found the watering hole.  We went for a drive in the afternoon and saw a large elephant herd.  We saw our first black rhino, springbok and darma dik dik, as well as some sable.  We returned to our camp before the gate closed.  Jeff watched the sunset at the watering hole and saw a rhino, elephant, and a jackel.  This was the night we had our first TRAGEDY!  Our air-mattress had a hole!! We ended up on the ground by morning and were very sad about this.  After looking for it for quite awhile, we were unable to find the leak (stay tuned...).  Animal Sightings:   Black Rhino, Springbok, Darma Dik Dik...

Up Until Now...

Welcome to our blog!  I have been meaning to do this for awhile now, but I just haven't gotten around to thinking of a name or a good reason for rambling about our life.  Well, I figured a trip to Africa and a two year stint in London might be justification for it! I will be posting soon with details about our trip, because we haven't had time, since internet has been extremely slow and limited.  Also, we figure since we have gathered so much information about traveling from other blogs and posts, we would share some of our insight and tips for traveling around Southern Africa, as well as visiting London.
